Red light therapy has many benefits including helping with wrinkles, acne and arthritic pain, but how does it work? How often do you need to do it? How long is each session?
Let's dive in
LED stands for light emitting diode. It's a low-level light therapy that uses specific wavelengths to non-invasively address different conditions. The light energy that the skin absorbs enhances your cellular performance, causes a speed up in cellular turn-over and promotes self-repair. Its painless, natural, requires zero recovery time and is safe and ideal for all skin types.
Different wavelengths provide different benefits for the skin. Blue light is the shortest waves, and they kill bacteria, helping aid in the healing process with acne. Red light boosts collagen, and elastin. This will help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Red light also reduces inflammation. Great for clients with sensitive skin. Near infrared light is the longest wavelength and invisible to the eye. These waves reach deeper into the skin, relieving muscle and arthritic pain.
With all those amazing benefits, you hope it wouldn't take too long per session. At Visage Beauty and Spa, we use award winning celluma device. Each red-light session will take about 30 minutes underneath the light. This allows enough time for the cells to properly absorb the light. It is recommended to have clean skin before your session. Meaning your service could be anywhere between 45 minutes long to 1.5 hours.
Light therapy, at the beginning, is a higher commitment. It is best to have 3 sessions a week for 4 weeks for optimal results. After that, you can switch to once a month with your monthly facial.
